Privacy, by deliberate action.

What the extension does
The Eliza Browser Companion lets a person talk with Eliza beside a webpage. It can read selected text or visible page content, capture a visible tab, window or screen, accept a microphone recording, and place an Eliza-authored draft into a focused editable field. These actions occur only after the person deliberately invokes them.
Information processed
Depending on the feature chosen, the extension may process the person’s ELM account identifier and conversation, selected or visible website content (including visible ticket details and the focused draft editor when a page is explicitly shared), the current page title and URL, screenshots the person chooses to capture, microphone audio the person chooses to record, and text placed into a form or editor. Unrelated form fields, passwords and other protected form values are excluded from page reading and page writing.
How information is used
Chosen information is sent over HTTPS only to ELM HQ infrastructure to provide Eliza’s conversation and browser-assistance features. It is not used for personalised advertising and is not sold. Page content is not continuously monitored or transmitted in the background.
Optional independent feedback review
For a signed-in thumbs-down, you may add an explanation and choose independent review. A limited, redacted excerpt of that selected question and reply may then go to an external AI reviewer and, if a software fault needs investigation, a technical reviewer. Leaving the explanation blank keeps review local. Do not put secrets in feedback; earlier reports without an explicit review choice remain local.
Account and retention
When signed in with ELM, conversations and account-scoped topics can be retained with the person’s ELM account. Pseudonymous guest conversation history can be available for up to 30 days after the last activity in the same browser; it is not cross-device account memory. Guest images deliberately sent to Eliza, with the question and reply, may also be kept in a private diagnostic audit for up to 30 days; they are not added to personal memory or raw shared learning. Local extension storage holds short-lived shared context and interface state. Account data remains subject to ELM’s existing privacy and deletion controls.
Permissions
HTTP(S) site access, activeTab and scripting allow the extension to read or write the active page on normal websites when the person invokes a page-aware action. Site permission by itself does not transmit page content. sidePanel displays Eliza beside the page. contextMenus provides Ask Eliza actions. storage retains local interface state. Access to elm-hq.com is used for Eliza’s HTTPS API and account session.
Human access and security
ELM does not permit staff to read browser data or personal communications except with the person’s specific consent for support, when necessary for security, or when legally required. The extension contains no private model keys, passwords or privileged server credentials.
Control
The person chooses what to share and can remove attached context before sending. Drafts placed on a page are not automatically submitted; the person reviews and submits them. The extension can be disabled or removed through the browser at any time.
Contact
Privacy and support enquiries can be sent to support@elm-hq.com. ELM HQ and its infrastructure are based and hosted in Europe.
