Privacy Notice.
How Eliza uses information to converse, remember, create and improve.
Eliza uses ELM identity and transport.
This notice supplements the ELM Privacy Policy and covers the Eliza AI app and features. ELM operates the service and can be contacted at contact@ELM-HQ.com.
We do not sell personal data or use private Eliza conversations for third-party behavioural advertising.
What Eliza may process.
This can include ELM account and session information; messages, prompts and replies; corrections and feedback; images, files, voice and transcripts; generated or searched media; optional location and media metadata; memory, preferences and summaries; credit and receipt-validation records; and limited security, network and diagnostic logs.
Apple processes payment details. Eliza receives only the transaction data needed to validate a purchase and add credits.
Why the information is used.
Information is used to provide conversations, understand text and media, retain signed-in history and memory, deliver generated media, manage identity and credits, secure the service, diagnose failures, evaluate usefulness and improve Eliza’s language, context, tone, empathy, routing and reliability.
Where practical, shared improvement signals are separated from direct identifiers and used in aggregated or de-identified form.
Processing depends on the feature.
Core processing provides the service a user requests. Security, fraud prevention, reliability and proportionate improvement rely on ELM’s legitimate interests balanced against user rights. Optional microphone, photo and precise-location access depends on the permission the user grants. Information may also be processed to meet legal obligations.
Different memory expectations.
Signed-in history and memory can be linked to an ELM account. Guest conversations receive a random, pseudonymous GUEST ID, separate from ELM account identities. ELM HQ makes bounded guest message and reply history available for 30 days after the last activity so the same browser or extension can continue the conversation. Expired records are purged daily. Guest-uploaded images and the associated question and reply may be kept in a separate, private diagnostic record for up to 30 days to investigate mistakes and improve reliability. These records are not added to a signed-in person’s memory or to shared learning as raw images. They are available only to service operators for review, are automatically expired, and are not accessible to other guests. Clearing the browser session stops access to that history from the browser, but does not immediately erase the server record; it expires automatically. Guest history is not cross-device account memory.
Guest turn pairs may help improve how Eliza responds through anonymous outcome learning. The shared learning store keeps only bounded categories such as message intent, tone, response style and whether the next reaction was positive, negative or a continuation. It does not keep the guest’s message text, Eliza’s reply text, an account identifier or a guest profile in that shared learning record.
User-controlled inputs.
Eliza processes media when a user selects, captures or sends it. Images may include time, device or location metadata. Permissions can be denied or withdrawn in device settings; withdrawing permission stops new collection through that permission but does not automatically delete information already sent.
Only what is needed to operate Eliza.
Information may be shared with ELM and Eliza components and providers used for hosting, storage, security, push notifications, authentication and app-store purchases. Requests may pass between Eliza and Lucas to produce an answer or media result.
If you choose independent review when sending written feedback or a bug report, a limited excerpt of that selected exchange and your explanation may be sent to an external AI reviewer and, for a possible software fault, a technical reviewer. Common contact details and credentials are redacted before transfer, but do not include secrets in your report. The Keep local choice prevents this external review; earlier reports without this choice remain local. We do not send your entire conversation history for a selected report.
Where processing occurs outside the UK, an applicable legal transfer mechanism or safeguard will be used.
Kept according to purpose.
Account history and memory may remain while an account is active unless relevant content is deleted or deletion is requested. Uploads, generated media, operational records and purchase records can have different retention periods based on storage, security, reliability, fraud-prevention and legal needs. Backups and security logs may persist for a limited period before being overwritten or anonymised.
Access, correction and deletion.
Depending on applicable law, users may request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability, object to certain processing, or withdraw consent. Users can sign out, remove permissions, correct Eliza’s memory and use available deletion controls.
Send requests to contact@ELM-HQ.com. Users may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
AI inferences can be wrong.
Correct Eliza when a memory is inaccurate and do not treat it as an official record. ELM applies technical and organisational safeguards, but no online service can promise absolute security.
